| Verse | Arabic | English translation |
|---|---|---|
By the morning brightness,
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ | and by the night when it settles,
مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ | your Lord has neither forsaken you nor is He displeased with you.
And surely the life to come is better for you than this present life.
And your Lord will surely give you, and you will be well pleased.
Did He not find you an orphan, and shelter you?
And He found you searching, and guided you.
And He found you in need, and made you free of need.
So do not oppress the orphan,
وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ | and do not turn away the one who asks.
And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.
