Frequently Asked Questions
Where does MM Portal's content come from?
We write it. Dictionary definitions and examples, dua translations, surah introductions and name meanings are original to this site. The Quran's Arabic text is reproduced verbatim under the Tanzil project's terms; gold figures are the Sarafa association's published rates, attributed and dated; prayer times are calculated, not copied.
How are prayer times calculated?
From each city's latitude and longitude using the standard astronomical method: solar declination and equation of time give solar noon (Dhuhr); Fajr and Isha use the Karachi convention of the sun 18° below the horizon; Asr uses the Hanafi shadow factor (2) by default, switchable to Shafi'i (1). Full details on the Disclaimer page.
Why does the gold page show a date instead of a live price?
Because honesty beats theatre. Gold is announced by the Sarafa association, typically once or twice a day; there is no free licensed live feed. We publish the announced figure with its date and source rather than pretending a snapshot is live.
Can I request a word or a name?
Yes — email muhammadmohsinsaleemkhan@gmail.com. Requests form our research queue for the weekly dictionary and names batches.
Is MM Portal connected to Hamariweb?
No. MM Portal is an independent site. Our public audit studied the big-portal model (structure, ranking patterns, monetisation) the way any publisher studies a market leader — and everything published here is our own work.
Why is there no news or cricket?
News wire copy is licensed material and live scores need a licensed data feed. Rather than scrape either, we publish utility content we can produce properly. The audit explains each omission and what replaces it.
